"There is a piece of me that likes to fondly imagine my maverick and rebellious nature. But, more accurately, I like to have a nice and cosy institution that I can rub up against a little bit." - Douglas Adams
"Maverick is a word which appeals to me more than misfit. Maverick is active, misfit is passive." - Alan Rickman
"I may be a maverick, but it doesn't mean I like playing tricks." - Chen Guangbiao
"If you're used to being a maverick, then people don't get surprised when you start acting strangely." - Richard C. Armitage "You don't have to be a creative maverick to have a troubled mind. You just have to be human. There is no 'us' and 'them.' No one is one hundred per cent healthy, physically or mentally." - Matt Haig
"The whole world loves a maverick and the whole world wants the maverick to achieve something nobler than simple rebellion." - Kevin Patterson
Monograph
I had starting by researching Binding Types, and decided I will either use zip ties to bind it, or stapes, but loads to give It that unique 'maverick' vibe.
I had then done some more research into my word maverick and started doing some quick compositional thumbnails to figure out some spreads I could do. Since my word is maverick and I need to incorporate that word into my monograph, I will apply a rule breaking, unorthodox, rebel and nonconformist styling to my design.
I had then started developing some of my thumbnail ideas digitally, I liked the idea of focusing my magazine on 'Mavericks' so went to google to see who people class as mavericks, a lot of my research into it I found that its people who are innovate or have made a change or action in which people haven't attempted or deemed possible, people such as Rosa Parks, Steve Jobs, Richard Branson and Elon Musk are a few which are mentioned a lot as 'Mavericks'.
I wanted to have a large text exert about each 'maverick' person to almost feature as an introduction so I played around with different styles of doing this, whether I thought it was more effective hyphenated or with the word maverick in a different colour. If I chose to go with this style I will use a staple binding so that it will allow me to lay text over the middle of the page and it won't be lost in the middle crease, as well as it being only 12 pages I won't have to worry about a middle crease.

I also did some experimentation creating some 'Maverick' compositions and trying to embody my word in different ways.
I found the design below to convey the 'maverick' personality the best so I tried several variations of it, making changes to see which worked the best.
I had started finding more people who are classed as mavericks, so I had taken a quote about their maverick behaviour to use for a possible page in the monograph.
I then started to develop some of the previous designs with the different potential 'mavericks' I had chosen.
This page would act as an introduction to each maverick, featuring an exert of text explaining who they are and why they're classed as a maverick and in what way.
I also decided to add a 'sir' onto the Richard Branson one so I experimented with the styling of that.
Once I had a rough outline for the magazine style and vibe I started thumb nailing and doing some designs for the cover.
